GLOSSARY

Estimated Annual Interest

Portfolio Metrics

IN PLAIN ENGLISH

What an account would earn in a year if the balance and rate stayed as they are today.

FULL DEFINITION

A rough year's interest on a cash balance at the rate you entered.

EXAMPLE

£18,250 in an easy-access saver paying 4.10% AER: 18,250 × 4.10 ÷ 100 = £748.25 a year.

HOW IT'S CALCULATED

Estimated interest = balance × rate (AER %) ÷ 100. It assumes the balance and rate don't change for a year, ignores tax, and only appears for accounts where you entered a rate — linked bank balances don't carry one. An account held in another currency is worked out on its balance converted into your portfolio currency, so the figure moves with the exchange rate. The Income Planner can add the total across accounts with money in them to your monthly income (÷ 12) when you switch that on in its settings.
