GLOSSARY

Unrealised loss

Holding Metrics

IN PLAIN ENGLISH

A paper loss on a holding you still own — it only becomes real if you sell.

WHERE YOU MEET IT

Shown as a negative Holding Gain on any position currently worth less than its cost basis.

WATCH OUT FOR

A small unrealised loss right after buying is usually just the spread, not a sign anything's wrong.

FULL DEFINITION

The unrealised profit or loss on a single position.

EXAMPLE

Holding Value £840 against Holding Cost £600. Holding Gain = £240.

HOW IT'S CALCULATED

Holding Gain = (price × shares held) − Holding Cost. Dividends received are excluded — they appear in the Dividends column instead.
