GLOSSARY

Price return

Portfolio Metrics

IN PLAIN ENGLISH

The change in value from price moves alone, leaving out dividends.

WHERE YOU MEET IT

The Return figure in your Portfolio Summary, for the shares you still hold.

WATCH OUT FOR

On its own it flatters holdings that pay little and undersells those that pay a lot.

FULL DEFINITION

The unrealised profit or loss on currently held shares, measured as current value minus remaining cost basis.

EXAMPLE

Total Value = £1,600 and Total Cost = £1,200. Return = £400.

HOW IT'S CALCULATED

Return = Total Value − Total Cost. Both sides are in your portfolio currency.
