There's no single review screen, so a portfolio review is a route through three widgets, taken in the same order each month. Total return isn't one figure in the app: add Return, Total Dividends and Realised Gains, which one Stat Tiles widget can show side by side. Then look at shape: slice a Pie Chart of your stock portfolio by sector for your sector weights, and rank a Gainers & Losers widget by sector for what moved them.

Compare each figure with last month's, not with the day's news. A review doesn't have to end in a trade; it exists so that when something has drifted — one holding grown into a large share, a sector gone missing — you notice it on a date you chose rather than one the market chose. Write the figures and a sentence down somewhere you'll find next month, because the comparison is the whole point.

The three add up to a running total, so this month's result is this total minus last month's.

This month's total return

Copy the three figures from your dashboard. Add last month's total to see the change.

Return (price)
−420.00
Total Dividends
+1,150.00
Realised Gains
+310.00
Total return
+1,040.00
As a share of Total Cost

Total return: +1,040.00. Judged on Return alone it would read −420.00.

  • A rough percentage: Total Cost counts only the shares you still hold, while Total Dividends and Realised Gains include shares you've sold.
