Charts what your precious metals and hand-entered assets — vehicles, watches, art, bonds, crypto balances you typed in — were worth over time, drawn from the buy date and price, today's value and, once sold, the sale date and price you entered on the Portfolio page. It's the Line Chart widget with Value of metals & other assets over time picked as its data.
WHY IT HELPS
Gives the things that have no price history a line of their own — what you paid, what they're worth now, and what they fetched when you sold — so the dates you enter feed the same chart as your shares and cards.
HOW IT'S CALCULATED
Each asset needs a buy date and a price paid in your portfolio currency, and counts from its buy date until the day before its sale date. Its line runs straight from the price paid to its value now (the live price for a metal, or the amount you last typed in, on the day you typed it) or, once sold, to what it fetched. The chart is the total of every asset held that day, with what they cost as a dashed line. Change = Σ over each asset of (its value on its last day in the range − its value on its first). The lines between your points are straight, not the asset's real path. Assets with no buy date, no price paid, a sale with no price or a metal not priced yet are left out and named under the chart.
