IN PLAIN ENGLISH
The market's own move over the time you've held it, separate from your gain: it ignores what you actually paid, so a dealer's premium, fees or a lucky entry price don't count.
FULL DEFINITION
How far the market price of what you hold has moved since the day you bought it.
EXAMPLE
A card priced at $2,089 on the day you bought it and $3,000 today: (3,000 ÷ 2,089 − 1) × 100 = +43.6%.
HOW IT'S CALCULATED
Move = (price today ÷ price on your buy date − 1) × 100, for the same printing (cards), the same metal's front-month futures price, or the same coin, in US dollars so the exchange rate cancels out. The price on your buy date is the last price on or before that day in the price history we hold — daily for the last three months, weekly before — so for an older purchase it can be up to a week out. It needs a buy date and a price history that reaches back that far, and is left out otherwise, never estimated; CoinGecko's free data goes back one year, so a coin bought earlier than that has no figure. It differs from Gain/Loss, which compares today's value with what you paid in total.
